Everyone knows weddings are crazy and what is worth having in the end of one, great memories and evidence it happened.
Everyone involved in the process has a tough time with the stress of organizing the event. Not only must you plan dates, book the venue, you also get bombarded with relatives old and new, questions, mishaps, all sorts of things that can take up all of your attention and even hinder you from completely enjoying your celebration. When initially planning what many think to be the most important day of your life, you should really make sure that you have some decent photography.
Just think hypothetically, you are sitting near a fire on a cold winter night and you are telling stories to your grand kids (super cheesy right?) and they ask "What did you look like on your wedding day?"..."What did you wear?"..."Was great grandma there?!". To that point, don't you want to have these fleeting moments had been taken care of and recorded for you? It is one way to leave a legacy and be remembered.
The average wedding (at the time of this posting) is anywhere from $20,000 to $34,000!! Let's say you or someone you know has eve half of this massive budget at your disposal.
Your wedding say expenses not only consist of:
Wedding Dress - $1500
Wedding Cake - $400
Venue - $3000
Catering - $4000
Rings - $3000
But also favors, tuxedos, music, flowers, hair, make up artist, a planner... And after all of this investment you forgo $1500 set aside for some reliable photography of the whole thing.
But as the point of this post is, weddings are unfortunately a huge expense. They can take months or even years of savings for some. If that same couple decides to go with the "I have a friend with a camera" or "my uncle knows this student...". The old saying 'you get what you pay for' holds merit, and generally speaking your memories will suffer.
Without rambling too much on the subject, I recommend taking care when planning a wedding and choosing a photographer that will appropriately capture your celebration, don't skip on this option and encourage others to do the same.
